The Legacy of Alice & William Books

My grandparents, Alice and William built a life rooted in commitment, resilience, and quiet strength. Their story began before this photograph, but this moment captures the start of our family, the foundation of love, partnership, and legacy. 

The store is named in their honor, not only for who they were, but for what they built: a family shaped by perseverance, storytelling, and deep-rooted values that continue across generations.

We learned to talk and tell stories from my grandmother. Conversations lingered, laughter stretched long into the evening, and stories were passed down like heirlooms. My grandfather would simply smile and shake his head. Family legend says it was because he was partially deaf from the Korean War. I like to believe it was selective hearing.

I am a Navy veteran, a mother, and a lifelong reader. Through Alice & William Books, I carry their legacy forward, creating a place where stories connect past, present, and future. A place where one day my daughters, and perhaps their children, will continue the story that began long before this bookstore ever existed.
