Alice & William Books will begin online.
Starting online allows us to grow intentionally and build a client base before opening a storefront. It also gives flexibility as we discover our sweet spot in genres and curated offerings.
We will choose books based on customer tastes and prevailing trends, while intentionally highlighting veteran authors and North Carolina authors. Supporting local voices and small businesses is important to us.

Each month, we plan to offer small, curated boxes featuring three to four thoughtful items sourced from small businesses in our coastal town. If time permits, one of my daughters may include a handmade bookmark. The bookmarks will depend on school and social schedules — because real life comes first.
Several sections of the store will be named after family members to keep the legacy alive as the family grows:
-
James’ Thrillers — named after my dad
-
Linda’s Loves — romance novels after my mom
-
Kay’s Manga — named after my youngest
-
Lynn’s Fantasy — named after my oldest
-
Ma & Pop’s Veterans and Locals — honoring those who have shaped our extended story
As our family grows, so will the store. When a new grandchild is born, the children’s section will carry their name. The legacy expands as the family expands.

And one day, that brick storefront in Swansboro will open its doors. A cozy space with coffee, community, and stories waiting on the shelves.
We are building something steady. Something intentional. Something rooted in family.
And we are just getting started.
